the one where i fall in love with this place

Just a few pictures I took of the Tuscan countryside while walking to the local supermarket...then pics from the Cittá d'Arezzo Giostra del Saracino.

The Cattedrale d'Arezzo & aqueduct at dusk...

It takes us about 30 minutes to walk to & from the grocery store.

Iconic Tuscan cypress trees.

An old chimney/tower/outpost of some sort down the road from the Villa.

Walking into town for the Joust...

The Tuscan sun framed by cypress trees & the Duomo.

The front façade of the Duomo.

Horse & his squire awaiting one of the many parades of the day.

The people of Arezzo live for the Joust...they were out in droves!

This guy had an important job...though I'm not quite sure what it was...

Parade-watchers on the steps of the Duomo.

This is our quarter's flag - Porta Crucifera!

The Porta Crucifera party spot for pre- & post-joust celebrating. The wall you see is part Etruscan from Arezzo's pre-Roman era...

An elderly gentleman who remembers World War II, when his family helped harbor American soldiers.

The Porta Crucifera lance room...one golden lance for each joust victory since the 1930s.

Fancy helmets - you'll see these being worn later at the Joust.

Drummers from our rival quarter, Sant'Andrea, marching towards the Piazza Grande.

View from the city walls - you can see the bright yellow Villa Godiola where I lived.

Jo, me, Holly, Lydia, & Christina on the city walls.
